St. Helens Recs C.C. win at home to Liverpool

Results weekend of 26th August

It was a topsy turvey weekend for St. Helens Recs 1st XI who played hosts to fourth placed Liverpool on Saturday. Recs won the toss and put Liverpool in to bat on a good wicket. Recs bowlers reduced the visitors to 25 for 2 but then saw a substantial partnership between Das and Nealy with the next wicket falling on 198.

Tower Hill to get a ‘Big Clean up’

A major environmental campaign has announced that Tower Hill, Knowsley will be the regional location for the ITV Big Clean Up. It is hoped that around 300 local volunteers will help turn the area into a pleasant space for the whole community on Sunday 17 September.

Cables brought Marine's unbeaten run to an end with second half goals from Mark Duffy and Dean Thurston

Cables' old boy Mike O'Donnell nearly scored for his new club within a minute with a shot that was deflected for a corner on the left-hand side. Three minutes later Dean Thurston had a shot saved at the other end. A minute later Cables were defending again when Colin Flood had a shot saved by Ryan McMahon.

Two  goals from Gary Jensen earned Prescot their first UniBond Premier Division win of the season at the third attempt. The first goal came after just three minutes when Dean Thurston skipped past two tackles in a 40 yard run before cutting the ball back across the face of the goal for Jensen to side-foot home.

The scoreline was not a true reflection of the game but it does highlight that some of the defensive frailties that bighted Prescot’s performances last season have not yet been eradicated.

Fun takes to the skies

Go fly a kite this summer holiday as another week of summer holiday fun dawns in Knowsley.
The kite flying event takes place at Whitestone Millennium Green on Driveway, Whiston, on Friday, August 25, from 1-3pm. First participants will learn how to make their own kites then put them to the test by sending them to the sky.

Prescot produced a fine performance in their opening game of the season in the UniBond League Premier Division but had to settle for a draw, which the visitors were far more satisfied with than were Prescot.
