The workforce at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) based in Knowlsey has given generously to local children’s hospital, Alder Hey to acknowledge its special place in the local community.
Staff at CSC who work on a national government programme to improve health care IT systems to hospitals and GP surgeries in the North West raised nearly £1,000 out of their own pockets to give to this renowned children’s hospital. It was appropriate that on the day of the cheque hand-over that CSC’s healthcare manager for Merseyside and Cheshire, Denise Gill, not only presented the cheque to Consultant Radiologist, Dr Nick Barnes but also to seven year old Liz Jones a patient who has benefited from care at the hospital.

The money was raised from a raffle held during a staff awards evening where employees working on the NHS account dipped deep into their pockets to help raise the money for the Alder Hey Imagine Appeal. Two further raffles were held in Birmingham and Leeds - the proceeds of which have been given to Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
Denise Gill said, ‘It means a lot to me to be able to give this money to such a worthy cause and represent the CSC staff working on the NHS based from the Knowsley office.”
The Children’s Hospital recognised the efforts of CSC staff with Dr Barnes saying, “Everyone here at the hospital is incredibly appreciative of the generosity of the CSC staff – we send our heartfelt thanks to them all.”
CSC has implemented a new x-ray system at Alder Hey hospital which now stores x-ray images digitally rather on film.
