Earlier today, Knowsley North and Sefton East MP, George Howarth, published the results of a consultation he has carried out with local residents and other representative groups on his website,www.georgehowarthmp.org.uk
Commenting on the results of the consultation, George Howarth MP said:
“There is a lot of local support for the proposed development of Kirkby Town Centre. There are also a number of legitimate concerns.
“Because I was determined to listen to all residents, not just those who shout the loudest, I was determined to meet as many different residents groups as possible and other local representatives over the past few months.”
“I have been impressed by the thoughtfulness and practical attitude that most local people have shown and by the way the developers have responded to their concerns. I would like to invite people to go to my website and to let me know their views on the safeguards proposed by the developers.
“So far, I have remained neutral on the proposals because I felt it was important to be able to speak to all sides to get the best possible deal for the people of Kirkby. I recognise the strengths of the proposals, but want to see quick progress on transport and more police. I hope to make an announcement on my position next week.”
