Public inquiry to be held in the heart of Kirkby
Knowsley Council has chosen Kirkby as the location to hear a public inquiry into a £400m development which could transform the town.
The scheme, which could create 2,300 jobs and see an additional £13.6m spent in the local economy, is to be considered at a public inquiry starting on November 18.
Leader of Knowsley Council, Cllr Ron Round, said: “We believe it is important that the inquiry into this development is held in the heart of the community which is set to benefit from it.
“That is why we have decided that the hearing will be held in Kirkby at the Kirkby Suite, Cherryfield Drive.
“It will give as many people in the town as possible the chance to hear the overwhelming regeneration benefits which are on offer.”
The plans under consideration include a new stadium for Everton Football Club plus leisure facilities, a Tesco superstore and additional retail, as well as environmental improvements throughout the town.
