How about learning to play the guitar? Well now is your chance, as these are just some of the free activities on offer in Knowsley during Adult Learners’ Week.
The week’s activities start across the borough on Monday 11 May. Knowsley Council has arranged a programme of events working with the People Engagement Group in conjunction with The National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) aims to encourage more people to engage in learning activities across the borough.
A wide range of activities are on offer, from French and Spanish language sessions, to local history, photograph restoration, guitar tuition, flower arranging and card making to fun dance classes including belly dancing, line dancing and Indian dancing.
Every venue will have a dedicated reading corner where both children and adults can come along and take a look at a range of books including Quick Reads - designed for those who don’t have the time to read a full novel. After brushing up your reading skills treat yourself to a free pamper session before heading home.
Representatives from Family And Community Education, Fresh Start, Knowsley Community College and Knowsley Works will be on hand to provide advice and guidance for those looking for employment or training.
Cllr Graham Wright, Cabinet Member for Children and Family Services said “Learning can take many forms but depends on our curiosities and inspirations. Adult Learners’ Week is a great opportunity to see what’s on offer and I would encourage people to get involved.”
