Former pupils from two Kirkby schools due to be demolished took a walk down memory lane before the bulldozers moved in.
The two campuses of Kirkby Sports College, at the former Ruffwood and Brookfield schools, are to close for good this summer.
Staff and pupils from both sites are moving into the new Kirkby Sports College Centre for Learning near to Brookfield.
Open days were held at both buildings so that ex pupils and staff could take a last look around before they are demolished over the summer.
Pupils have also produced a DVD, showing both schools, with staff and former pupils talking of their memories.
They include former Liverpool FC star Phil Thompson and Aston Villa player Denis Mortimer, who both captained their teams when they won the European Cup.
Knowsley’s cabinet member for Children's Services, Cllr Graham Wright, said: "This was a sad day in some ways as it was the last time people could visit their old school.
“But it was also a happy one as pupils and staff are now coming together in a marvellous new building that is at the forefront of the latest developments in education.
“The open day has given people a chance to take one last look before demolition begins, but the DVD means they can also take away something that they can view for years to come.”
The new centre will begin operating in September. Anyone who would like to buy a copy of the DVD showing both schools should contact Kirkby Sports College on 546 6804 or Knowsley Enterprise Academy on 545 1125.
