Knowsley residents can celebrate Compost Awareness Week by getting involved with the council’s FREE compost giveaway.
Green fingered residents can collect up to three 20kg bags of compost at three ‘giveaway’ events on Sunday, 8 May between 11am and 3pm. This is distributed on a first come first served basis so get there early to avoid disappointment.
The compost is made from Knowsley residents’ recycled garden waste, so the event is a reward to local households for their recycling efforts.
The ‘giveaways’ are at:
Kirkby Sports College, Bracknell Ave, Kirkby L32 9PP.
Halewood Park, Okell Drive, Halewood L26 7XB.
Knowsley Council Depot, Stretton Way, Huyton L36 6JF.
“We would encourage more residents to recycle their garden waste and reduce the amount of bio-degradable waste that goes to landfill.”
Compost Awareness Week from 1 to 7 May aims to promote the benefits of home composting and the great results that can be achieved by using composts containing recycled material.
For further information about the compost giveaways, please call 0151 443 2440, e-mail customerservices@knowsley.gov.uk , or for information about composting visit www.knowsley.gov.uk

I'm composting at home for my garden soil, and it's our little way to help the environment in reducing so much waste in landfill.
