Knowsley’s OurPlace Forum got ‘on their bike’ earlier today to help promote using a bike to get to the new OurPlace facility in Huyton and the benefits of cycling in Knowsley.
The Forum arranged the event, which started at Halewood Environment Centre and finished at the new OurPlace facility on Longview Drive in Huyton. The centre has been designed for young people by young people in Knowsley and the Forum have been involved in its development.
The cycle ride culminated at the new OurPlace facility based on Longview Drive in Huyton, which opens at the end of October. The services, activities and design of the facility have been requested and shaped by the OurPlace Forum. It will bring the things that Knowsley’s young people have asked for together on one site.
The OurPlace facility will include a media suite, café, music and arts space, advice and wellbeing services, an outdoor multi use games area, and a BMX and skateboard board ramp park.
There will also be the opportunity for the young people to gain new skills through participation in activities and volunteering to help run the centre.
Cllr Eddie Connor, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Community and Culture, said “It was great to take part in such a worthwhile event, which not only helped to promote the cycling routes we have available here in Knowsley, but also helped to promote the health benefits cycling has to offer. I would encourage as many people as possible to get on their bikes and pay a visit to the OurPlace youth facility when it opens at the end of October.”
