Knowsley is the first council in the North West to take the lead in a new national anti-littering campaign.
Knowsley is one of 10 councils nationwide to become an ‘ambassador’ for the ‘Love Where You Live’ campaign – created by Keep Britain Tidy to inspire people to think about their communities and take action to reduce litter.
The campaign launches in September with a high profile national and local advertising campaign. In Knowsley ‘local heroes’ will be featured talking about their local areas and how they have helped to create clean and tidy neighbourhoods.
Cllr Graham Morgan, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Delivery, said: "We are proud to be the first 'ambassador' partner in the North West chosen by Keep Britain Tidy to take the lead in this campaign.
“The idea is to encourage everyone to take responsibility - that's individuals, local authorities, voluntary groups, government, local businesses and multi-national companies - to change the way people think and act about littering. We all love something about where we live and this new campaign is about everyone working together to improve the local environment where we live."
Keep Britain Tidy's Chief Executive Phil Barton said: "We are delighted that Knowsley is the first local authority in the North West to join us as an ambassador partner for Love Where You Live.”
“This campaign can only work with the support of everyone in the community - individuals, businesses, schools and voluntary organisations.
With the help of local authorities such as Knowsley, Love Where You Live will make a real difference to the places we call home."
