Teenagers in Knowsley can try out wheelchair basketball for just a pound this Friday.
Knowsley Council has been running a series of taster sessions in a variety of sports as part of the lead up to the Olympics.
The sessions have included archery, Tae Kwon Do and water polo and they were held from July 2010 onwards at sports centres and centres for learning across Knowsley.
The wheelchair basketball classes are being held at Halewood Centre for Learning and they are open to people aged 13 to 19, regardless of ability.
“We’ve been running sessions in every sport that will feature in the Olympics,” said Peter Green, one of Knowsley’s sports development officers.
“The most popular so far have been the water polo classes that were held in Halewood, Kirkby and Huyton.
Knowsley will be running other events as part of the build up to the London Olympics.
The borough is to host some international disability events and is providing training camps for some of the Paralympic athletes.
The wheelchair basket ball sessions for teenagers run on Friday November 25 from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.
