Knowsley Council’s specialist jobs agency has helped another up and coming company recruit the right staff.
The authority’s Knowsley Works team offers a wide variety of services aimed at finding work for people who have been jobless for some time.
It offers employers free recruitment and selection services and helps to prepare and train possible recruits before their interview.
This latest project with Knowsley Council is the second in just a couple of months.
Late last year, Knowsley Works carried out a recruitment process for Inenco right up to the interview stage.
That included advertising the job vacancies through their own outlets, partners and Jobcentre Plus.
Knowsley Works also set up and staffed a recruitment hotline and gave candidates a telephone interview to see if they were suitable for the posts.
They also ran an assessment day to help candidates brush up on their skills and prepare for any possible interviews.
From the 19 applicants who attended the assessment day, five were offered jobs and Inenco said they were keen to do the same thing with their January recruitment campaign.
“This is about giving local people as good a chance as possible to secure what work is out there,” said Cllr Dave Lonergan, Knowsley’s cabinet member for Regeneration, Economy and Skills.
“It’s also about giving companies the help they need to find the right people.
“Knowsley Works has a wealth of experience in getting people skilled up and ready for the jobs market and we work with employers to help them find the staff they need.”
For the most recent recruitment campaign, Inenco were looking for sales people and Knowsley Works again screened applicants, short listed candidates and helped them prepare for any possible interviews. Six of these applicants are starting work with the company next week (21 February).
“Our involvement with Knowsley Works has been invaluable,” said Alan Kerr, Sales Manager from Inenco.
“They make finding and recruiting the best local people pain free. We’re keen to give people who’ve not worked for a while an opportunity and this partnership means we can do that without compromising on the quality of recruits.”
Knowsley Works are now planning a further three day event with Job Centre Plus and the Liverpool based training company Kaplan. The event will work on developing people’s skills before they begin work.
“The help I got from Knowsley Works got me this job – no question,” said Emma Harding from Croxteth.
“I’ve been out of work for a while and was struggling to find a job or even get an interview. The training with Knowsley Works helped to boost my confidence and gave me the opportunity to get in front of an employer for an interview.”
“I was offered the job on the same day as the interview and I’m made up to be starting work!”
