Local charities and other worthy causes are once more being given the opportunity to bid for cash donations of up to £500 from the Rotary Club of Rainhill.
Last year, cheques amounting to £6,650 were presented to delighted successful bidders for funds from the Club’s Dragon’s Den initiative.
Most of the cash was distributed within the local community to recipients including:-
Prescot Swimming club, St Helens Girls Rugby, The Mature Billingers, St Helens ADHD, Lansbury make it happen, St Helens Bereavement, Autism & Asperger, St Josephs Tuesday club, Perth Community Centre, St Helens Stroke club, Honeyrose foundation, Nutgrove Primary Council, Rainhill Cricket club, AMD Eyecatchers, Prescot Air Cadets, Robert Doward (individual)
“But there must be many needy causes within the local community of which Rotary is just not aware,” explained Alan Buckley organiser of the Rainhill Club’s initiative. “ There must also be many people battling to raise funds for worthy causes who have never thought of approaching their local Rotary club for backing.
So, for the third time, we have decided to invite people to put forward their case for receiving funding from the Club up to a maximum of £500.
Unfortunately we are only able to help organisations in the St.Helens, Rainhill,Whiston and Prescot areas, (but if you are out of those areas and have a good genuine case please contact us.)
The route to securing the support of the Rotary Club of Rainhill starts with completion of a short, simple application form obtained from the Club’s website or by contacting Mr Buckley on 07800 753407. Forms need to be completed and returned by post in time for the closing date Friday 1st March 2013l.
Each application will be considered by a committee before selected bids are invited to make a brief presentation to an assessment panel. Cheques will be presented to successful applicants at the Club’s meeting on Thursday, 18th April 2013.
“The Rotary Club already backs many charities, groups and individuals within the local community but following the success of last year’s event, we hope this 2013 initiative will bring many more to our attention, so that we can widen the support we give,” said Mr Buckley
Application forms can be obtained by visiting http://www.rainhillrotary.org and completing the online application form or by telephoning Alan Buckley on 07800 753407.
