Many parents of children who start Year 6 this September are already starting to think about which secondary school they would like their child to attend next year.
Whilst September 2014 may seem like a long way off, now is the time to start to look at what is on offer in Knowsley.
A number of drop-in events for parents and children have been arranged so that parents and pupils can come and find out more about education in the borough’s secondary schools. These are taking place throughout September.
Secondary education in Knowsley provides a range of opportunities, including traditional teaching methods within modern learning environments, engaging curriculum choices and personal tutor providing advice and support.
To find out more about our schools and the open days, log on to www.knowsley.gov.uk or call the school directly.
Cllr Graham Wright, Cabinet Member for Children and Family Services, said: “This is a great opportunity to come and see what we can offer.
“We understand the importance of selecting the right school for you and your child, so the drop-in sessions will give parents and students a chance to tour the facilities, speak to teachers and pupils and find out more to help them decide which school is best for them.”
From September, you will be able to apply for a secondary school place online at www.knowsley.gov.uk (search for school admissions). In addition, secondary booklets and application forms will be given to all Year 6 pupils in Knowsley primary schools. Application forms will also be available from the Admissions Team (Tel: 0151 443 5142/4143).
The closing date for the secondary application is Thursday, 31 October 2013.
