Pupils in Knowsley have scored a record number of grade A*-C passes in this year’s A Level exam results.
Provisional results released today (Thursday, August 15, 2013), show passes at A* - C have risen by 10.3% on last year to 61.3%.
Halewood Academy Centre for Learning had particular cause for celebration with A Level passes at A*-C up by 24.2% to 77.1%
At All Saints Catholic High School in Kirkby, where the majority of sixth formers studied towards BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diplomas, equivalent to an A Level, students were celebrating after 65% achieved Distinctions.
Cllr Graham Wright, Cabinet Member for Children and Family Services at Knowsley Council said: “It is fantastic to see the number of Knowsley students gaining good passes is on the rise, and the improvements at Halewood Academy Centre for Learning are particularly impressive. I know the students and their teachers have worked extremely hard, and thoroughly deserve their successes.
“I wish the best of luck to all students as they now decide whether to go onto further education or training, work or apprenticeships.”
