It’s now just a few days to go until The Tour of Britain arrives in Knowsley!
This fantastic event on Tuesday, 17 September will see a world-class field of cyclists competing in an exciting time trial stage, and you can watch it all, absolutely free! It’s an unmissable opportunity to get up close to the action, and to see some of the biggest names in cycling.
To ensure you don’t miss the action, Knowsley Council, working with Merseytravel, has secured a free shuttle bus service from across the borough.
Four shuttle buses will operate at regular intervals:-
- Leaving Whiston Railway Station and picking up at Prescot Railway Station then onto Prescot Town Centre
- Leaving from Huyton Bus Station and picking up at King George V (Park and Ride) and onto Prescot Town Centre
- Leaving from Kirkby Bus Station and picking up at Broad Lane, King George V (Park and Ride) and onto Prescot Town Centre
- Leaving from Halewood Centre and picking up at Broad Lane Shops, Higher Road/Mackets Lane, Prescot Railway Station and onto Prescot Town Centre
The timetable can be found on www.discoverknowsley.co.uk or you can telephone Traveline on 0151 236 7676. In addition, a free park and ride service will be available from King George V on Longview Drive in Huyton.
The shuttle bus service from here will be running from just after 10am and will run every 15 minutes. Also, a pedestrian route from Prescot town centre to Knowsley Safari will open from 10.30am, ensuring you can get close to all of the action.
Cyclists will be leaving Knowsley Safari in one minute intervals from 12.00 noon and travel along a 16km circuit around the borough.
The best viewing points will be Prescot Town Centre (St Helens Road, High Street, Derby Street), Knowsley Village (Knowsley Lane) and Knowsley Safari itself.
