There’s lots of opportunities in Knowsley to get out on your bike over the Autumn.
There are lots of opportunities to enjoy cycling around Knowlsley over the autumn and winter with British Cycling’s Social Cycling and Breeze groups.
Breeze is the biggest ever programme to encourage more women to get into riding bikes for fun. Organised by volunteer “champions”, Breeze cycle events are fun, social, local rides that go at a speed that suits everyone.
Meanwhile, Social Cycling Groups allow cyclists to find each other online to arrange a bike ride at a time and level that suits them.
Whatever your ability, taking a few simple steps can help anyone planning a ride prepare for the weather at this time of year.
Make sure you wear long sleeves and a layer beneath this; designed to be worn next to the skin a base layer helps you from getting cold by keeping moisture away from the body.
Reflective clothing or accessories is another good option when riding your bike on gloomy days and of course the law requires you to have front and rear lights on your bike when cycling after dark.
Councillor Eddie Connor, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Community and Culture said “Cycling is a fantastic way to stay fit and healthy, plus its lots of fun too so don’t let the time of year put you off getting out on your bike. British Cycling’s Breeze events for women and Social Cycling Groups provide an ideal way to take part in bike rides with other like minded cyclists in Knowsley.”
