NHS England launched its new campaign, ‘the earlier the better’, on Monday 20 January, aiming to reduce pressure on urgent and emergency care, particularly Accident & Emergency Departments.
The campaign raises awareness of the types of illnesses that can be effectively treated through self-care or community pharmacy services.
The main campaign message is if you feel under the weather, get help as soon as possible. See your local pharmacist of visit www.nhs.uk/asap - the earlier, the better.
Local pharmacists provide expert advice to help you manage long-term conditions and can also assist with illnesses such as coughs, colds, trouble breathing or sore throat. They have longer opening hours than GP practices and most have a private consultation area. They will advise if you should see your doctor.
The campaign will run until 26 March 2014.
