100 women to exhibit themselves in Knowsley
One hundred women in Knowsley are taking part in a series of creative and wellbeing workshops to help them develop their artistic skills to produce a revealing self portrait.
The women's artwork will be exhibited at a national women and creative leadership conference on 20 March 2014 at The Huyton Suite before forming part of a touring exhibition which will be displayed locally, nationally and internationally.
Tickets for the conference are now available and include access to a series of workshops and inspirational talks will be taking place throughout the day.
The 100 women in Knowsley project has been commissioned by Knowsley Council and is being run by local artist and therapist Clare Campbell. The programme was delivered in Liverpool last year and attracted over 5,000 visitors at Tate Liverpool.
The women's creative workshops encourage discussions and support around stress management, confidence building, addiction, creative writing and building friendships as well as artistic tuition and guidance.
Lisa, who is one of the 100 women taking part in the project, said: "I am a woman in recovery from addiction and I had almost given up hope - until now. These workshops have been a life saver for me. I have loved being with other women in a space where we are not judged or labeled, but given the chance to express ourselves. I am now going to volunteer to help out at the conference on 20 March and I want to inspire other women and pass on the skills and knowledge that I have learnt through this process."
