A further three new extra care development schemes will be delivered in Knowsley over the next two years.
Approximately 231 extra care homes will be created at three sites across the borough – Albany Road in Prescot (the former watch making factory), Bluebell Park in Huyton and Derby Court in Halewood. The three sites offer excellent accessibility to local services and transport links.
Work has already started on the developments in Huyton and Halewood and work will start on the former watch making factory on Albany Road, Prescot in the summer.
Extra care housing is a type of sheltered housing designed to meet the needs of those with housing, support and care needs. The range in Knowsley includes apartments and bungalows which have been designed and adapted to meet the need of the occupants.
Knowsley Council is working with Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT) and Plus Dane Group on the three new developments. Bluebell Park Apartments in Huyton is a £14.4 million project to build 122 new homes for the over 55s that need extra care and support to live independently. The project has received £2.6 million investment from the Home and Communities Agency (HCA) Affordable Homes Programme and will provide homes for rent and shared ownership.
The Albany Road Prescot scheme has secured investment from Knowsley Housing Trust and Knowsley Council with support from £10.4m Department of Health funding for schemes such as this that help older or disabled people live independently.
Derby Court in Halewood has secured investment from Plus Dane Housing Group and Knowsley Council, also with support from the HCA’s Affordable Homes Programme.
