The Lord Derby Academy, sponsored by the Dean Trust, officially opened on 1 February 2014. This new ear will not be marked with a celebration event on Monday, 10 February 2014.
The Academy is part of the Dean Trust which has a number of outstanding schools and has a proven track record of sustained improvement.
Since partnering with The Dean Trust, the school has reaped the benefits from a range of measures introduced including aspects of leadership, teaching and learning.
The Dean Trust’s core values across their schools include traditional academic education, excellent discipline and respect, resulting in improved attainment and progress.
Edward Stanley, the 19th Earl of Derby, will be guest of honour at the official opening ceremony and was delighted to assign his name to the Academy.
The Earl of Derby, Edward Stanley, said “I am delighted to be part of this exciting new era for the school. I join staff and pupils alike by looking forward to seeing the Lord Derby Academy thrive.”
Mr Barry Bridden, Headteacher, is delighted that The Earl of Derby has take time out of his busy schedule to support the school’s transition to Academy status. Mr Bridden added “The Lord Derby Academy will, with its traditional values and high aspirations, be an education environment that students, parents, carers and the community of Huyton will be proud of.”
