Knowsley Council is waging war on waste as it encourages staff to slash the squandering of energy in their homes.
During Energy Efficiency week, 25-31 October, four energy saving events are planned to encourage Knowsley staff to save energy. They will be encouraged to use energy saving light bulbs, not leave the TV on standby and switch lights off in unused rooms.
All these tips can help save money and cut carbon emissions which contribute to climate change.
Sally Carter, Knowsley’s Energy Efficiency Officer, said: “It’s coming up to Christmas and we all want to save money. We are holding these events to encourage staff to save cash and help save the planet. This year we are starting with all the thousands of staff who work for the council and hope to roll the scheme out to the community.”
New research from the Energy Saving Trust and UK Climate Change Impact Programme shows a clear link between climate change and how we use energy in the home, with UK homes contributing to 28% of all carbon dioxide emissions.
