Women are being invited to attend the Breast Screening Mobile in Huyton Town Centre.
The Mobile will be in the town until July, situated in the Huyton Hey Car Park, next to the Bus Station.
Women aged between 50 and 70 years from Gresford Medical Centre, Knowsley Medical Centre, Page Moss One Stop Shop, Dr Suares, Dr Sudakar, Dr Hossain, Dr NP Singh and Dr Nayak’s surgeries will be invited to attend the unit for breast screening.
Women over the age of 70 years are encouraged to self refer and make an appointment for breast screening by telephoning the Breast Screening Unit on 0151 709 7295 or 0151 709 7296.
One in nine women in the UK develop breast cancer, and it is more common in women aged over 50 years.
Knowsley Director of Public Health Dr Diana Forrest said: "Breast screening is really important because it can detect changes which may be very early breast cancer. It can help find very small changes in the breast before there are any other signs and symptoms. If changes are found at an early stage there is a good chance of the cancer being eradicated from the body."
