Merseyside Police may be close to catching the thug who left two children covered in blood after a vicious road rage attack on Wednesday morning.
At about 11.30am, the girl and boy, aged 2 and 4, were in a car with their father on Greene's Road, Whiston, when the driver of a white transit van pulled up and launched a horrendous assault.
The man smashed the rear window of the vehicle with a crowbar, leaving shards of glass over the children. Onlookers spoke of "lots of blood".
The shocking incident was apparently provoked when the father sounded his horn at the other driver, after he cut in front of him at high speed.
The attacker, described as short, stocky and with brown hair, drove off after the attack, leaving the family traumatised. They were taken to Whiston Hospital, where it is believed the young boy was treated for glass in his eye.
Anyone with information can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
