St. Helens Recs 1st XI played hosts to league newcomers Southport Trinity on Saturday. Trinity won the toss and put Recs in to bat, after losing an early wicket Lyon was the next man out for a hard earned 49 with the score on 82 for 2.

New play area for Prescot

A new children’s playground was opened to the public at a day of nature-inspired activities.
The playground at Bryer Road Community centre, Prescot, is designed especially for very young children, aged four and under.

Prescot continued their preparations for the forthcoming season with an entertaining game against a young Wrexham side. Gary Jensen headed Prescot in front on the stroke of half-time to end an evenly-fought first half.

Anthony Walker, 1987-2005

A small crowd gathered at McGoldrick Park in Huyton this weekend to mark the first anniversary of the death of Anthony Walker.

It was there that 18-year-old Anthony was attacked while walking his girlfriend home on the night of 29 July 2005. He died in the early hours of the next morning from a single blow to the head with an ice axe.

The racist murder has since inspired countless charity efforts to keep Anthony's memory alive and ensure that racial hatred becomes a thing of the past.

Knowsley Online pays tribute to Anthony, and remembers his mother Gee, father Steve, and four siblings, Dominique, Stephanie, Angella and Daniel.

Prescot Hockey Club ready to return home

After more than two years away from their 'home' Prescot Hockey Club are finally moving back to the fully refurbished Prescot Leisure Centre, their home since 1952.

Knowsley Council have spent over £650k on a complete redevelopement of the hockey pitches in Prescot and the hockey club want to build on the successes of the last few seasons.

Police appeal for fatal bike crash witnesses

Police believe up to 100 bikers may have witnessed a crash that claimed two lives on Wednesday.

The collision occurred at about 7.50pm on 26 July on Randles Road, Knowsley Industrial Estate. An Aintree man, 37, and a Bootle man, 42, were travelling on motorcycles when they collided.
