Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT) and KHT Services were successful at the Knowsley Economic Forum Enterprise Awards. The Awards are an opportunity to recognise the achievements of enterprise in Knowsley.
The award was presented to the business that had made an 'Outstanding Contribution to Knowsley'. This is an inaugural award which was judged on exceptional contribution to the Borough, shown through their commitment, dedication to creating a positive impact. KHT Services was highly commended in the category for the 'Fastest Growth Company'. Director of Neighbourhood Services, Alan Disley and Sharon Steele, KHT Services' new Business Development Manager, were both on hand to collect the awards.
Alan Disley commented: "Winning these awards is a great achievement for everyone connected with KHT and KHT Services. It illustrates how, in just a short space of time, both organisations are already beginning to be recognised within the business community for their expertise and the contribution they are making to the Knowsley area.”
Other honours on the night included amongst others; Entrepreneur of the Year, Best New Business, Best Small Business, Best Community Business and Best Contribution to the Environment.
KHT’s ‘outstanding contribution to Knowsley’ award was based on their £300million improvement programme, which has transformed homes and neighbourhoods. The company is one of the largest employers in the Knowsley area employing over 500 people of whom 60% live in Knowsley. Their commitment to providing employment and training opportunities to local people has seen them become key partners of Fusion21 who have created over 400 new jobs and strives to provide countless training opportunities. Fusion21 has also re-located premises to KHT’s Link Road Depot, citing first class facilities and accessibility as crucial to the move.
KHT is also a key member of Knowsley’s Local Strategic Partnership and invests in environmental improvements. They are also key partners in major regeneration initiatives in the area including North Huyton New Deal for Communities, which has just been given the green light for £200millon investment for 1450 new homes made from energy efficient materials. Another regeneration initiative underway is ‘Transforming Tower Hill’, which will transform the area into a safe, attractive and quality place to live.
KHT also works closely with Knowsley Council and the Police to tackle anti-social behaviour and KASBU is based in KHT's head office, Lakeview. The KASBU team includes colleagues from Merseyside Police, Knowsley Council and the Probation Service as well as KHT's own tenancy enforcement unit.
The aim of the KASBU is for the various agencies to work closely together to tackle anti-social behaviour and provide safer neighbourhoods and communities for the people of Knowsley to enjoy.
KHT was recently described by audit commission as 'providing good services with promising prospects for improvement'. This was reflected in KHT’s two star status which is amongst the best results in the North West.
