A two year Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) has been issued by Knowsley Magistrates Court on 16 June 2008 against a 14 year old boy from Kirkby.
The Safer Knowsley Partnership’s Anti-Social Behaviour Unit, which includes representatives from Merseyside Police and Knowsley Council, gathered the evidence to obtain the ASBO in relation to the teenager.
Steve Agger, Assistant Chief Executive for Crime & Disorder at Knowsley Council “The Safer Knowsley Partnership is committed to reducing anti-social behaviour. Officers from the Unit and the Neighbourhood Team have closely monitored this boy’s behaviour over a period of time. It was evident that his behaviour, including shouting abuse at residents, spitting at people and property and damaging property, was seriously affecting the lives of people from the local community.”
"I hope this serves as a warning to others that such behaviour is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. The local community should be reassured that the Safer Knowsley Partnership is committed to reducing anti social behaviour in Knowsley.”
The conditions of the ASBO are:
- Not to use foul, abusive or threatening language or behaviour in any place to which the public have access for payment or otherwise, or whilst on the grounds of Highfield School, Halewood.
- Not to enter or attempt to enter Centre 63, Old Hall Lane, Kirkby.
- Not to throw stones or any other item at any person in any place without that persons consent.
- Not to enter Southdene Community Centre, Broad Lane, Southdene, Kirkby unless attending a pre-arranged appointment at the Centre when entrance is permitted when accompanied by an adult aged over the age of 18 years.
- Spitting at any person or any item of property in any place to which the public have access for payment or otherwise or whilst on the grounds of Highfield School, Halewood.
Inspector Karen Dunn from Knowsley’s Anti-Social Behaviour Unit added “Jordan Lytollis created unacceptable levels of misery for a number of residents both in Kirkby and Halewood. Merseyside Police and its partner agencies do not, and will not, allow individuals to engage in such conduct and will take whatever action is necessary to address it. The court outcome today shows that where a community stands together against anti-social behaviour, appropriate measures can be taken to stop it.”
“It is only with your help that we can successfully put an end to such acts of anti-social behaviour and if you are the victim of anti-social behaviour, report it to us and we will take robust action against those responsible.”
If the youth breaks any of these conditions, he will be liable on conviction to a term of imprisonment, a fine, or both.
The order will remain in force until 15 July 2010.
