Following their heavy weekend defeat, Cables bounced back in a crucial Unibond Division One North battle.
Tidings looked gloomy for Prescot when Greaves’ angled shot beat Paxton to give the visitors the lead on 20 minutes.
Striker Josh Mitten sparked into life with two headed goals in the 30th and 45th minutes to provide Cables with the advantage at the interval.
Prescot looked lively after the break. Defender Zalo upended Aaron Rey outside the box. The floated free kick was met by a glancing Mitten header that completed his hat trick on 63 minutes.
Cables failed to capitalise on a shaky Garforth outfit. The home side was made to pay when they failed to clear the danger allowing Greaves to help himself to a second in the 69th minute.
Garforth nearly snatched an equaliser as the ball zipped across the six yard area with the attacker inches away from contact.
A nervy Prescot survived a lengthy stoppage time period to register their first league win in five games.
