Formerly known as Holy Angels Primary School, the new home on Sidney Powell Avenue is based on the site of the old infants school, which was demolished in 2006.
Head teacher Ann Coffey played a pivotal role in ensuring the new school was delivered. A capital bid was submitted and Ann worked closely with the architect to ensure that the school had state-of-the-art facilities tailor-made for the 21st century.
The school is designed with each year group having its own cloakroom and toilets. There are two halls, one for infants and one for juniors, with the infants hall linked to a computer room equipped for video conferencing.
Conlon Construction are the main contractors for the £5.2m project. It is being funded by a combination of a successful Targeted Capital Fund Grant and funding from the Liverpool Archdiocese Capital Programme.
Ann Coffey said: “I only wanted the best and that is what we now have. The long wait for our new school has been worthwhile, as the children and staff now have a school that they deserve. The ICT facilities are phenomenal, making it a school of the future. It is wonderful to see five-year-olds using the technology. We did this all on our own and have the school we wanted.”
Damian Allen, Executive Director of Knowsley’s Directorate of Children & Family Services, said: “The dedication of Ann to making this project happen has truly paid off. I am delighted to see the children and staff enjoying their brand new school which they deserve. This is a proud moment for Knowsley.”
