Knowsley Council has once again launched another phase of the trailblazing Knowsley Apprentice programme.
A further 100 young people from across the borough will be given a career kick-start with some of Knowsley’s most prestigious businesses.
Following the huge success of the Knowsley Apprentice Phase 1 and 2, the council is once again leading the way to ensure that job and training opportunities are available to its residents.
Cllr Ron Round, Leader of Knowsley Council and the initial inspiration behind the programme, said: “The Knowsley Apprentice is all about giving Knowsley’s young people plenty of options for their future.
“Since 2008 we have successfully helped five hundred young Knowsley residents into full time employment, through the Knowsley Apprentice and Merseyside Apprenticeship programmes.
To provide a further 100 opportunities to more ambitious individuals again this year is extremely exciting.”
Since the initial launch three years ago, hundreds of young people from across Knowsley have secured apprenticeships with business across the borough and beyond, most are now in full time employment after completing their apprenticeship.
The Knowsley Apprentice is suitable for any young person from Knowsley who is keen to learn new skills, build new knowledge and learn a trade. No experience is required, although plenty of enthusiasm and willingness to learn new skills is essential.
At the end of the apprenticeships, many of the businesses are likely to offer their apprentices permanent positions, but even if that is not possible, the apprentices will have gained valuable work experience and qualifications which will make it easier for them to find employment in the future.
