Prescot Cables and Harrogate RA shared the spoils in an error strewn encounter at Hope Street. Cables snatched a last gasp equaliser from Jack Webb in the final minute of added time.
Harrogate kicked off playing towards the far end of the ground. It was Cables however who got off to a flying start after only 2 minutes. Webb found Lambert on the left whose powerful low cross was prodded in by Bathurst from six yards.
Harrogate were awarded a free kick taken by left back Hunter which the Cables defence headed away for a corner. Cables then produced a good move with Booth finding Fargin whose cross was taken by Harrogate keeper Dobbs.
Harrogate then had a spell of pressure. A free kick taken by Hunter was deflected across goal for a corner, Youhill then shot high and wide and on 14 minutes Moor made an outstanding point blank save from Cartman’s header.
James Thomas replaced the injured Jonathan Bathurst after 26 minutes.
Manager Dave Powell made five changes from the side which lost to Warrington Town in midweek. Hoctor, Murphy, Booth, Fargin and Bathurst replacing Fielding, Hollett, Banda, Barker and Edwards.
On 34 minutes from a free kick for taken by Cartman, Maloney headed over the bar. Hull had a great chance to equalise for Harrogate cutting in from the right his low shot across goal just going wide of the far post. Hull went through again just before half time but lost control of the ball as he went into the penalty area.
The second half began with Harrogate applying the early pressure. From a free kick taken by Hopkins, Thirkell headed on and Moore saved comfortably. Thomas tried to be too elaborate during one Cables attack trying to beat his opponents too many times many and he was dispossessed. Cables made their second substitution when Banyihwabe replaced Booth in an effort to add some pace to the Cables midfield.
Ged Murphy was booked for a foul after 60 minutes and from the resulting free kick taken by Hunter, Moore saved comfortably. Harrogate were awarded another when Hull a constant threat with his pace on the right side was brought down. The free kick by Hardy was blocked by the Cables defensive wall.
Another fine run by Hull produced an opportunity for Cartman who skied his shot high over the bar. Cables replied with a fine move resulting in across by Lambert which Webb just failed to get on the end of. After dominating much of the second half proceedings Harrogate finally got the equaliser on 74 minutes when from a corner taken by Hunter, Hopkins headed home.
From another corner on 79 minutes Lawlor had a shot blocked for a corner. On 82 minutes Harrogate took the lead when the Cables defence failed to clear Hull’s cross after and after Cartman’s shot was blocked Youhill hit the rebound into the far corner of the goal from just outside the box.
Cables made their final substitution Bonetta replacing Fargin. On 88 minutes Harrogate had a chance to wrap the game up when from another good cross by Hull, Hardy’s header was cleared off the line by Ged Murphy.
After that escape, Cables snatched a dramatic late equaliser in the third minute of added time when a cross from the right is deflected away from Harrogate’s Colin Hunter into the path of Jack Webb who controlled the ball and fired hard and low past Dobbs in the Harrogate goal.
