Raised in Huyton, Cllr O’Hare was first elected to Knowsley Council in 1982
and has held a wide range of positions in the borough since then.
Cllr O’Hare is a former civil engineer and construction manager and currently holds a number of roles in the voluntary and public sector. He is a Governor of Sylvester’s Primary School, where he was educated.
During his year as Mayor, Cllr O’Hare will raise money for the Magic Fund, a charity which supports young people across Knowsley.
Cllr O’Hare’s wife, Christina – also a Knowsley councillor and a former Mayor of the borough – will be his Mayoress.
Cllr O’Hare said: “It is a huge honour and privilege to be serving my borough as Mayor this year. It is fantastic to be able to go out and see the great things happening in our communities and raise money for extremely worthy local causes.”
Dear Cllr O'Hare PERSONAL
I feel sure you knew, and therefore will have admired, my late friend Frank Masters. Frank was my mentor and support for many years as we attempted to promote a nation wide voluntary "Area Information Service". I miss Frank (and of course his wife died before him)and I've lost touch with his son - who lived in Merseyside. But several times Frank mentioned an idea he nurtured to publish his written memories. These, he told me, will have included not only his experience of local government but also his very interesting WWII adventures in France,India (and even Tibet)! So I wonder if you or your Council Librarian has access to this as yet unpublished material and has ever considered celebrating Frank's great service by encouraging their publication?Best regards Des McConaghy
