Knowsley Safari welcomes twin Baboons

The newest arrivals at Knowsley Safari are set to cause double trouble this Mother’s Day, as a baboon has given birth to twins.

At only a few weeks old, they are currently clinging to mum, but will soon be up to mischief as they start to find their feet in the baboon habitat.

Eveline de Wolf, Head of Animal Management at Knowsley Safari, comments: “It’s rare for twins. Usually a baboon has just one baby at a time.

“So far she is spending time making sure that both of the babies are cradled together and doesn't seem to mind even when they use her as a climbing frame."
