KIDS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

Additionally, a new scholarship opportunity will see two youngsters earn a place on a Learning and Discovery course during Feb half-term. One candidate will join the Knowsley Academy, while the other will become a Junior Ranger To be in with a chance of earning a place, applicants must write up to 200 words explaining the reason why they deserve a place to Knowsley Safari by 9th February - easy peasy.

The Junior Rangers is a three-day club for children aged 11-14 years old and the Knowsley Academy is five-day club for 15-18 year olds. Both give opportunities to go behind the scenes and to help animal lovers explore more about the natural world whilst being around some of the world's most iconic and charismatic animals, learning about important conservation issues and what it takes to work in the industry.

And to kick-off February half term, Knowsley Safari is running its popular half term, half price deal online from 13th -21st February.

Prescot Cables 0 - Mossley 2

SATURDAY 30^TH JANUARY 2015 - EVO-STIK DIVISION ONE NORTH

Prescot Cables lost to Mossley at Hope Street in an ill tempered game with one red card and six yellow cards being shown by the referee.

Cables Manager Andy Paxton made just two changes from the team which had won so convincingly at Scarborough the previous week, Marcus Burgess replacing Tom Brocklehurst in goal and Andy Scarisbrick replacing the injured Lloyd Dean in attack.

Before the game, there was a minute’s applause in memory of Linda Scott who provided the match day hospitality at Cables for more than 10 years. Players, officials and supporters of both teams joined in the applause, a fitting tribute for a great servant of the club.

Mossley kicked off playing towards the Knowsley End and soon applied the pressure on the Cables defence, Dave Short having a shot blocked for a corner. Cables cleared the corner but were soon under pressure again Burgess saving from a free kick by Keogh and from a volley by Bennett. Burgess was then nearly caught napping when he came out of his area to take a back pass and attempting to dribble the ball was nearly caught out by Short but recovered in time to clear up field. Jonah O’Reilly tried to put Rob Doran clear with a long ball out of defence, but Doran was adjudged offside having made his run a fraction too early. Cables were awarded a free kick outside the penalty area on the left which was taken by Staunton-Turner and was met by Joe Herbert who headed just over the cross bar. The strong wind was making passing difficult as both teams over hit several long balls.
